The work calendar problem
The single hardest thing to get onto a family calendar is the one that changes most: a parent's work schedule. Docalen syncs Google Calendar two-way, with a busy-blocks mode that shows the family the time is taken without showing who the 2pm meeting is with. Your first synced calendar is free. TimeTree discontinued its public API in December 2023 — their own developer notice — which closed the main road third-party tools used to move events in and out of it.
From "seen" to "done"
- Every event can carry work: tasks live on the same timeline as events, so "swim lesson" and "wash the swim kit" travel together when the day moves.
- Delegation with a spine: hand a chore over and Docalen sends the reminder, shows who's on it, and lets a parent verify it actually happened — points and prizes close the loop for kids.

Where TimeTree is a better fit
